Day 1: Arrival in Stellenbosch
Check in at Mont Angelis begins anytime from 2pm to welcome you for the week to your piece of Cape Winelands paradise! Before dinner, you can expect a visit from your cycling guide, so that you’re ready and excited for your first day in the saddle. Above that, there is nothing to do but relax and enjoy the tranquility and spectacular view! If you’d like us to reserve a table for you at one of the local winery restaurants down the road, simply let us know and we’ll take care of it.
Day 2 – Stellenbosch Mountain
To kick start the Big 5 MTB Tour, we’ll cycle from our doorstep to Mont Angelis’ local MTB playground, the infamous G-spot, a 2km long gradually descending single track trail with loads of jumps and berms! Once fully warmed up, we’ll head over to Eden Forest, a pine plantation that is home to a maze of technical single tracks, with awesome downhill opportunities, before connecting with the trails of Coetzenberg and Mont Marie.
HIGHLIGHTS
• Testing out the UCI World Cup 2018 Course at Coetzenberg
Day 3 – Jonkershoek Nature Reserve
Just a stone’s throw from Stellenbosch centre, today’s tour in the majestic Jonkershoek Nature Reserve offers riders a huge range of purpose built single track and heaps of downhill opportunities! Tucked away in a little nook, you’ll be transported to a seemingly untouched world, teeming with flora and fauna. There is good reason that Jonkershoek ranks as a firm favourite among professional mountain bikers in South Africa and beyond!

The five mountain bike routes on the estate range from intermediate to advanced riding, offering plenty of fast, technical single track and downhill forested sections in a dramatic, mountainous setting. Settling down to lunch in the shade of oaks in front of the historic Manor House is a wonderful way to wind down after a challenging morning.
Day 5 – Rest Day
Take a day off to sample the local food and wines of the area (by car or by bike)! A gentle ride uphill from Mont Angelis, will lead you to boutique winery Keermont (tasting available with pre-bookings only) and De Trafford, after which you can roll back down the hill to Bodega Restaurant at Dornier, finishing off with a signature chocolate and wine pairing at Waterford.
Day 6 – Simonsberg Conservancy
After suffering devastation from wildfire at the beginning of 2016, the newly re-built mountain bike trails within Simonsberg Conservancy offer beginner and intermediate riders a wealth of single track through the indigenous fynbos and vineyards of wine estates of Muratie, Delheim and Uitkyk.
